Lin Paddock
Chaplain

Lin Paddock retired from Civil Service on September 30, 2004, after 29 years of service.  Lin spent 24 1/2 of those years working in the legal field for the United States Army.  As a litigation paralegal, Lin assisted military prosecutors and Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the prosecution of criminals in both military and civilian courts.  In 1992, she established one of the first Victim Assistance Programs in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; it remains a model for the U.S. Army today.  She assisted numerous victims of crimes, concentrating on victims of violent crime.  Lin also acted as an advisor to other victim advocates and conducted training seminars to members of various disciplines who were involved in victim assistance.  Prior to retiring, Lin proposed a new concept to the Judge Advocate General's Corps concerning the prosecution of crimes involving child abuse:  The Child Multi-Advocacy Team.  This concept brought together a multi-disciplinary approach of investigative, prosecutorial, and crisis intervention and follow-up counseling to minimize trauma to the child victim while enhancing the effectiveness of the investigation and prosecution of the crime in the military justice system.  Lin remains dedicated to victims' rights.

Lin graduated summa cum laude from Drury College (later renamed Drury University) with a Bachelor's Degree in English.  She pursued her graduate education at Southwest Missouri State University receiving her Master of Arts Degree in English with a concentration in early American literature.  Lin began teaching part-time for Drury University's College of Continuing Studies in the spring semester of 2000.  Since that time, she has taught various composition and literature courses including English Composition, Introduction to Literature, Expository Writing, Literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, American Literature and Culture I and II, Women Writers, Living Writers, and Modern Drama.  She presently teaches at both St. Robert and Lebanon Campuses.  As an educator, she believes that expectation inspires excellence.

Lin and her husband of 33 years, Dave, live in Richland, Missouri.  They have two daughters, one son, and three delightful grandsons.  Lin and Dave regularly attend Grace Covenant Christian Center and have since 1990.
